This review is on Santiago from 1956 which stars: Alan Ladd, Rossana Podesta, Lloyd Nolan, Chill Wills, Paul Fix
and is directed by Gordon Douglas.
Desperate for
arms in their fight against Spain, Cuban partisans agree to double the
price if American gunrunner Cash Adams (Ladd) smuggles a boatload of
weapons to their Santiago hideout. Forced into an uneasy alliance with
an old enemy (Lloyd Nolan) and a sexy freedom fighter (Rossana Podesta), Adams must battle his way through naval blockades,
dense jungles and heavily guarded passes to convey the munitions to a
remote mountain outpost where the rebels and payment await.
This is a Warner Archive release and has pretty good
video and audio quality. The film is
presented in color, Widescreen and runs for about 92mins (1hr 32mins).
I would give this film a 6/10 and the DVD a 3/5. Overall this is a great DVD release and is a film I recommend.
